Me, in Union Square, sister with a nice Policeman. Pic of a cheery postman. Plenty of pics of trams, trolleys and buses.
Long tracks to our room and both of us, at different times, trying to get our card to open the wrong door. (We got it right in the end.) Luckily, we never got into the wrong rooms.
I still think of the punnet of strawberries I bought, I still think sadly of the strawberry ice cream I dropped. Nice waiter cleaned it up but I could have cried.

Memories are made of this!

I would love to say that we had been invited in for a cuppa. But I can't lie.
Actually, we were on top of an open top bus after going over The Golden Gate Bridge. We also passed the home or maybe now, ex home of Clint Eastwood too. Not often I can name drop. Unfortunately, neither of them were spotted. Even if they had been pottering about in their front gardens, they would have been very well "hidden."
This happened last year. Happy days.

I can't quite believe that it was nearly a year ago that sister and I went to San Francisco. It's true what they say, the older you get, the quicker time passes.

We really loved that place. it's a "got to go" kind of place. Anyway, it was my holiday of a lifetime as I said last year.

I know that this time last year I would have been in a state of pure excitement and a strange feeling of, "What have I done?" But when the big day arrived, it was fine.

Got a phone call from sister today. She and her husband in foreign country, forget which one. Had been in Barcelona but now moved on. (So it still might be Spain!)

Looked up Christopher Columbus on Internet today. I always thought he was from Spain but the site said he was born in Italy.
Apparently, sister saw a statue of Christopher, either in Barcelona or near there.
When we were in San Francisco last year, we saw a statue of him around that area.
She wondered if he had sailed from there to America?

I know they say he didn't discover America. But now I wonder if he actually visited San Fran?
I read there was a good few Spanish around part of San Fran. Maybe they adopted him. Anyone know anything that I can tell sister? She will think I am soooooo clever. lol But I will tell her the truth in the end, honest!

Strange how things work out, I was looking at my CD of photos that I took while on holiday. And not long after, she rang me.

Very cold here today but no wind, snow or rain, not up to now anyway!

I know, I know, but San Francisco was wonderful! It was in June we went.
Sister and I sat in a Graveyard after finding our Grandmother's grave, it was a breezy but lovely warm day in May. Chatted about what a short life we had and how we should fulfill our dreams while we had the energy. lol
My dream was to visit America, so we did.
Hers was to ski in Banff. So maybe, about April, her dream will come true.
I will get to Canada, I know it's a huge place but that is where I believe my biological father lived and maybe was born. My geography ain't good. Banff maybe a thousand miles from Winnepeg, but at least I will be in his country.
He died in California in the '70's. So I will have been where he was born and where he died. This time last year I wouldn't have dreamed I could have done these things!
So, everyone, hold on tight to those dreams, whatever they maybe. I hope you will fulfill yours too.

Went all the way to Blackpool yesterday. (Took about an hour, maybe less.) Looked round some big stores, bought nothing, ate out, quite nice too.
Saw the illuminations on the way home. Morecambe used to have them but alas, no more.
I was told it is the last week of the "Lights."
My picture of Blackpool Tower all lit up is NOT good. Will try this one instead. Fingers crossed and here we go!
It's one the left hand side of my blog, click please, to enlarge. Scroll down to see. Doesn't do the "lights" justice though.

Nothing new in that I suppose. BUT, it will be the first time for them. I really hope they enjoy it and have a wonderful time. They deserve it. It will be the first time they have flown too. The highest they have been is possibly, Blackpool Tower. A bit of a difference or what?
Have a great holiday S, N & M.

Over a month ago, I was still recovering from jet-lag. It was a very tiring holiday but we loved it. I mean, after travelling all that way, you just HAVE to see everything don't you? San Francisco, I would go back like a shot if I,
A/ Had enough money.
B/ Could drag someone else along with me.
C/ Could meet my half brother this time

Not meeting him was a bit of a downer. It's not often I fly all those miles! lol In fact, never have before. Four hours was our maximum.
As I may have told you, it didn't spoil the holiday.

We even saw a skunk! Typical, my camera chose that time to run out of batteries. Sister got it though, she was so excited, the camera, somehow, went on to video. (We are not very good with our gadgets!) We keep saying we must read the instruction books. But to me, they don't make any sense until I have sussed things
out for myself.

Back to work tomorrow. They just rang earlier. So will go and get my train tickets with my Family Railcard and on Wednesday, set off on one of Sir Richard's trains and pick up our granddaughter. Then after that, will do a bit of work. Just hope the ward is as nice as it was on Friday. It wasn't too hot that day.
Yesterday, it rained quite hard. Amazing, it's ages since it did that up this end of the country. Cooled things down a bit and did the gardens good as well.

Our holiday is over. I just have to say, San Francisco is a really great place! We had a wonderful time. The weather was good, apparently, better than normal.
Back to normal now, not really over my jet-lag, I got the call to work. That was yesterday and I go again tomorrow. They really wanted me to go today but sorry, I have to do some shopping, England is on the TV and my son and his wife are coming later to be bored with my holiday photos. (Their choice!) Poor things. There are more important things than work. lol
Lombard Street. Many times photographed.

At three am tomorrow morning I will be crawling out of my pit! Work will be the last thing on my mind. (I did go in the other night for four hours though!)
My sister and her husband will pick me up at four am. Then off we tootle to Manchester Airport. By the time we get there, I will be either, over excited or very tired. Maybe both.
Then the wait until 10 am and the flight. Brother-in-law will go back home. Him downstairs will go back to be after I have gone. I know I would if I was in his shoes.
Our big adventure is nearly here.
Take care my friends and readers.
America, here we come!
