Phone Advice, good idea.
This is from an email I received from the USA. Looks a good idea to me, saves ringing the TV man, the local store etc! lol
Apparently this is a standard procedure all paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across your cell phone.
ICE - "In Case of Emergency"
We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.
If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.
The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell(mobile) phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency).
The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as 'ICE.'
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!
Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!
Please forward this. It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

Still not smoking!

I am still not smoking. I am missing it, well not really.
Let me explain please. For over 45 years I haven't been far from a packet of fags. I tried a few times to stop and didn't do very well at all.
Possibly because I think I haven't any will-power.
When I started smoking, it was good, relaxing so the adverts said. Things are so different now though. Not that I smoked BECAUSE of the adverts. No, my friends smoked, not all of them though. It was a grown up thing to do and no one told anyone how hard it was to stop.
Anyway all is different now as everyone knows and as I said earlier. Anti social, yes, less places to smoke, yes.
Did they always pong as bad as they do now?? If they did, I never noticed and that was before I started smoking.
If you have made it to day 23, well done. That's 3 weeks of not smoking. (Just over really but even so.) 3 weeks of money saved. 3 weeks of being healthier.
I am not a born again non smoker. No, I still fancy a cig at times. It would be silly though after not having one since the 29th Sept 2007.
My advice is never to start in the first place.

Women and Health!
Well, there I was, a woman over a certain age and a male doctor about 16 years old.
Ok, I do exaggerate a little.
But what is it about ladies of a certain age?
We are either "going through the menopause." Neurotic or both. Seems we are not to be taken seriously.
Maybe it is just me. Maybe the doc was too young?
He did ask in the middle of my consultation, if I was a worrier? That put me right off my stroke. I mean, after being asked that, was it worth going on?
So, I will suffer a while longer and go and see another doc. To me it seems to be wasting the doctors' time. But I tried with just the one appt.
I usually ask about a few things when I am there so perhaps the poor kid, (doc.) thought I was a bit "strange."
But diverticulitis is not good and neither are the hot flushes that make ladies of a certain age feel terrible. Mine have been going for years now, just getting fed up with it all.
Day ten of the no smoking. Gosh, it is hard work!

Hair cut!
Just been and had my hair done. Wish the face matched the hair! Well, they can't do miracles can they?
Had one cig yesterday and up to now, two today. They are horrible. So once more, why?
Nicotine addiction............
I was quite surprised to find out that it was the hardest substance to "give up." I would have thought it would be hard drugs or maybe, even alcohol. But I suppose anything is hard to give up if you really like it.
So, I will have to wean myself off the stuff. It is not nice. Also, in cigs, there are a good few chemicals that anyone in their right mind would never take. They are the killers.
www.stayquit.co.uk Wonderful site to help. www.whyquit.com another good site.
I am going to stop this quite expensive, smelly addiction if it kills me and if I continue, it could.
Have a good weekend.

Depression?
Like the Lady below, "I am not amused."
Is it because it's winter or what? I feel really fed up. Got that awful feeling, nothing to look forward to. Another birthday looms. Am I depressed?
If I am, it's not serious depression. Just possibly, plain fed up.
I would hate to be clinically depressed. My heart goes out to people who suffer from that!
When I was younger, I used to get fed up but always thought that something nice would be round the corner. I lived in hope. But that feeling is no more.
I mean, it's not as though I am very ancient. Just going on 63. I have my health, ok, not as nimble as I was but nothing I can't handle.
I have given up the cigs. That might make me feel cheesed off. But I should be really pleased with myself. So why aren't I? It has been a hard slog, but apart from a minor blip yesterday, I have got over the worst bit. At least I hope so.

No smoking!
Well, it's nearly a month and it will be on Sunday night at 12:45 pm. Four weeks without a cig. Hope anyone who made a New Year's resolution is doing well. This is the first one I have kept for so long.
It seems I have added 2 extra days to my life with not smoking. So, what do I do with them????
Also saved a good amount of money.
It's very cold here now. But I have just been thinking, although January has seemed the longest month ever to me, it has gone past very quickly. Presume, the older you get, the quicker time flies by. Now, at my age, that is a worry!
Still working, going again tomorrow. Then, I am sticking to just the two shifts. OK, I keep saying that. But when there is a shortage of nurses, I feel guilty and go to work. NOT always though.
My friend says it's hot in Australia where she lives. Huh. She comes home and has a dip in the pool. She knows how to wound me.
It's also Australia Day today.
Have a great weekend! Luv from Anne. xxxxx

No Smoking.
Been playing with my new camera, I like it. Some of the pics aren't good but that was my fault. The beauty of digital camera is you can delete the blurred ones. lol
Oh go on then, if you insist, I will show you the left overs from last Sunday, cans of bitter not shown!
Still keeping up my resolution. Seemed rather hard earlier on today though. It's now after 8 pm and it's been nearly a full week since I last had one. I think my last one was about 20 to twelve last Sunday night.
