Mothers Day.
In Britain today, it has been Mothering Sunday.
Other countries seem to have their Mother's Day later. I found this out when friends in the USA sent me greetings in summer.
Since it is all to do with the Mother Church, (I think,) I thought it would be the same in all countries.
Take what I have said with a pinch of salt though. lol
Anyway, hope mums everywhere have had a lovely day!

3 years!

Happy anniversary to S & N.
Three years married today.
What a wonderful day that was.
First time I had actually seen both our sons in suits. If I hadn't have known better I'd have thought they were appearing in court. lol
Granddaughter lovely as chief bridesmaid. Even himdownstairs and me scrubbed up well.

Granddad.

I have been reading a blog by a granddad who has never met his grandson.
Speaking as a person who never met her biological father and nearly had a granddaughter adopted, I have great sympathy.
Why are families like this? So sad.
When granddaughter's mum decided not to have her adopted after all, the social worker said that it had been a waste of paperwork! Granddaughter's dad said he wanted to say something!
Well, whoever she was, that was a really awful thing to say. Such a caring person she must have been, the ratbag.
I know if I had been there I would have been arrested for assault. I am a peaceful person but that would have been a good case for me to have lamped her one.
The ratbag should have been reported. Lucky for her that I was told a good while after.
Might as well make a plea while I am on this subject.......
Victor, in CA. Halfbrother.
Prove to me you aren't my halfbrother. I still, truly believe you are. The photos almost prove it.
You don't know how close you were to getting a visit from me last year. We were only in SFO. Not far away.
Ahhhh well, good luck to everyone who is wanting to get in touch with missing family members.
Life is too short.!

Oh dear me!

Tomorrow, I catch a train to pick up granddaughter and her friend, then bring them back. They will be stopping with is for a week.
Golly gosh, teenage hormones and a menopausal woman. Poor himdownstairs. Feel sorry for him already! lol
One day, we will all go to Blackpool. Granddaughter's friend has never been up this end of the country before.
Just hope the weather stays fine and both girls behave! This is supposed to be a holiday for me too, a break from my, very part time job.
Morecambe will get a visit or two as well!
Got a bit of a cold, tickly cough and also a painful hip. Himdownstairs says I always ail from something at critical times.
Such a sympathetic soul!
There is no way they will get me on one of those HUGE rides on Blackpool Fairground.

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to younger son, 38 today.
Trust him to have a birthday on the windiest day so far. Poor man had to work too.
I was in a position to ask to have the day of my birthday, off. Well, had to spend it in a darkened room as I got older. lol
Love you S. X X X X X X

Tomorrow! The Sales.
Tomorrow elder son and his daughter arrive. Don't know what time so will be on edge most of the afternoon. lol
Before then, I have to make a Victoria chocolate sponge. (I hate baking.) Then do the cream filling and ice the thing. Poor me.
Went shopping again today, loked at the dsales but bought nothing.
Is it me? Sales are not as good as they were when I was a girl. Ok if you want to buy a sofa, but clothes, no.
When I was a youngster, the sales started on January the second, (unless that fell on a Sunday.) You could look in the shop windows and kind of choose what you wanted, if there wasn't anything you fancied, you knew, inside, there would be on the day.
I see photos in the paper of people battling for things in the sales. Queuing all night sometimes for stuff.
But here, there seems to be a sale on somewhere almost every week.
Ah well, hope you get a bargain!
Luv from Miserable in Lancashire.

Himdownstairs!
Tomorrow, himdownstairs reaches the grand old age of 63. Considering he has survived over 41 years of my cooking, that's not bad. In fact, it's quite remarkable. lol
I call my husband, himdownstairs because now the kids have flown the coop, my computer is upstairs and he sits downstairs as he has no interset in computers at all. A bit like my sister. Well, they are both Capricorns.
Mind you, so is younger son and not only does he like them, he works with them too.
I will be 63 in March. So really, I am not far behind the old divil.
I feel a bit sorry for people who have their birthdays around Christmas. They can be forgotten quite easily. Especially if their birthday falls between now and the New Year.
Happy Birthday Dear Husband. Hope you have a great day, (not that he will ever read this!)

Family and cigs.
My Cig cage!
Well, blow me down with a feather.
My younger son is doing better with the non-smoking thing than his mum.
I call him my son as I am proud of him and if I am proud of them, they are my sons! If they are not so nice, they are himdownstairs sons.
Anyway, I think he has done very well. I am so pleased, it will help his health and everything. I do hope he keeps it up.
I have my good days and my off days. Today has been ok. It's like being in a cage at times. But, I will stop. I am determined to do it!

But so are, other son, granddaughter, nephews and nieces and loads of us. Summer has gone, it can only get colder. whinge whinge, whine whine.
Roll on summer!

My Family.
I have found out about my Mother's side of the family. Going back to 1788.
I must admit though, I didn't find this out on my own!
No, I couldn't find a thing. Well, I might have done but not known. No, my second cousin, twice removed did all the hard work. So thank you G and also D for her help. But it is so exciting. I would just love to "visit" for a day, these long gone relatives. I mean, what was the first mentioned like?
My father's side of the family, I just don't know much about them at all.
I was born on the wrong side of the blanket, just at the end of the second world war. Woe is me.
BUT, from what I have gathered, I think I know who my father was, I have spoken to the gent I think is my half brother. I know the names of my grandparents too. Where they lived etc.
Trouble is, it is not in this country, no, that would be too easy.
When sister and I went to San Francisco, we were possibly just an hour away from half brother. Yes, so near, yet so far away.
I did think of dragging sister to the address I have for half brother. She was with me on this. But we didn't go, my choice.
Cusses, I should have gone. Not every day I nip from England to San Francisco. But we British do have manners don't we?
I find it so sad, I just want to talk, I just want to know what my father was like. I am sure he would have liked to have met me if he was still alive. I always thought he knew about me, but now, I think I was wrong. Well, that's what his step daughter told me, she said he would have mentioned it.
Now, if I am right and this chap WAS my dad, I think I have more right to him than she has.
I think she is an unforgiving old biddy. I also think half brother is a bit of a wimp if he listens to what she tells him. But I could be wrong, maybe he has moved. Maybe I am being paranoid thinking he has changed his phone number because of me.
But Vic, please ring me, please give me a chance to prove or disprove my theory! A letter would be nice.
If my other dad, the good man that bought me up as his own had a daughter or son from his past, I and sister would make them welcome.
