Packard Bell. All mine!
I have got my computer back! It's not been away for repair, it hasn't been broken. But as I may have told you, it was taken over by two teenagers. Also, it's not good to sit and mess on here when we have visitors. Bad manners.
I tell you something, I have not recovered yet. Still feeling shattered. Just shows how age creeps up on you. Could have managed all last week, stood on my head, a few years ago.
This computer of mine has taken a beating. Goodness knows what they did with it. lol. They can do things I never knew could be done.
Movies!
Matchstick people. They put them on U-tube. See, I don't even know if that is spelt right! No, it isn't, it's YouTube. Just goes to show how much a nan knows eh?

My Friend! lol My Computer.
I wonder what I did before I had this computer?
Watched TV? Read? Used my knitting machine?
All that has changed, is the knitting machine is now in the loft! (Too big just to having it hanging around.) I kind of miss it at times. Maybe I should buy some wool and do a bit of knitting by hand, maybe.
The sewing machine, well, it is redundant. I must buy some more fabric and try to make the simplest of tops. I would love just to run up a few tops. Any advice???
I am working tomorrow, Sunday, a pile of ironing awaits.
Got a few books today, they look rather interesting. As I may have said before, I love reading.
But I love my computer, It is getting old like me. But it is aging better. It could do with a good dust and clean up.
I will do that next week, it will take my mind of the cigs. Yes, I am quitting again on the 7th March. I am doing it through a site I found on the Internet. It's good.
www.stayquit.co.uk
Daffs coming up now and today, it's been quite spring like. I know it won't last though.
Have a good weekend now I have bored you with a few of my hobbies!

Digital Camera!
I love my computer as I have said many times. Anything that I can use with it or on it are wonderful too!
So, today, I went and bought a new camera. 5x optical zoom. Wonderful. I forget the amount of digital zoom but I do know it has more pixels than my other one.
I am still keeping the other one as it's ok, I like it.
Here is a pic of a pic I took in San Fransico in June.

My Computer!
Computer again.
Since I wrote this, I have changed to Broadband. I really like it too. A lot cheaper than my other ISP. I can also phone my e-mail friends in Australia and America, free! Most of my calls fom this country are free too. I like free!
The first computer I bought was Windows 95. A basic computer I must say. I wasn't on the Internet for quite a while at first.
So, you have a brand new computer, maybe second hand but as a beginner, it's new to you. You suddenly realise, you really need a printer. It's a must. Then you think, a scanner would be wonderful, so off you go to pick one out. Digital camera? Yes! After all, think of the films you don't have to buy and you can put photos on your screen. Of course, then, you need CDs to save your photos. Paper to print them out on. Cartridges of ink too as, by now, your printer needs them.
Trying to teach yourself all this is hard. Well, it was for me anyway. I remember having a panic when my first computer told me it was shutting down due to an illegal operation. I expected the police calling at our house! I wouldn't mind but I wasn't even on the Net then. But not understanding, it was a bit scary. I have had 3 computers, three printers, (I seem to ruin them.) This computer I have now, I think, is the best one, as is the printer.
I love my computer! It's a Packard Bell. Runs XP. Not had a lot of trouble with it. But these last few days, the mouse seemed to have seized up. I blamed myself. Poor overworked little mouse, I had not long ago, cleaned my desk, so I blamed that!
Tonight, it was getting worse and driving me mad. I opened it up, you know, took the bottom off. Golly, the muck type fluff! I cleaned it off and now the mouse is quicker than me! (That is easy though.) Anything is quicker than me!
I am still on dial up. My boys and my granddaughter say it is so slow.
I see in the papers that the price of Broadband will be coming down, (Wish I could say the same thing about petrol.) So, one day, when they have all dropped their prices, I may arrive, at last, in the 21st century and speed things up.
The only trouble with that, is the people can still ring me up and try to sell me a stairlift, a walk- in bath or ask me if I have had an accident in the last few years. Not only do they want to know if I have had an accident but any family or friends as well.
I know they have a job to do, I try to be polite.

Reformatting!
My computer kept shutting down yesterday. It said WELCOME, then shut itself off. Huh. Not happy I wasn't.
So, back to the old reformatting thingy. I am so glad I am able to do this.
Sometimes, I do it to get rid of all the rubbish I have gathered over a long period of time. Other times, like yesterday, did it to get rid of what might have been a virus. I can't think of any other reason it should keep going off. My virus buster didn't say I had a virus though. Strange or what?
Everything now but my scanner has been reinstalled.
I have, of course lost all my e mail addresses. Just have to wait until my friends write to me now. Luckily, just one letter owed.
This is the thing, I forget to save addresses and such. When I get back to having all the addies, I will save them on a CD or floppy disc. I promise. I have saved other things in the past but yesterday was different.
I honestly thought I would have to buy a new computer. My thoughts were going to whether to buy a laptop, a second hand computer or what?
But happy day, it is now ok and running well. Fingers crossed that it keeps on doing so.
It's Sunday here, Bank Holiday weekend. I feel a bit miffed, it seems just like an ordinary weekend to me. When I worked properly, we worked Bank Holidays, unless you were lucky and they gave you that time off. So really, I am not used to having a three day weekend. So why do I feel miffed??? I think it's because everyone could be in a holiday mood and I'm not.
Enjoy your weekend though, I am not jealous, well, not really, no I am not. Honest.

Laptop or what?
My friend has bought a laptop. I often wondered if I should get one when this one pops its clogs. Now, I just don't know. Bless her, she seems to be having problems.
I love my computer as I have said before. The only trouble is, it takes over this little bedroom.
Usually we don't use this room as a bedroom now the boys have gone. But now and then we have to revert it back to its original state.
As our holiday is now underway, (just the waiting now!) I couldn't afford a new computer. Just hope this one keeps going well. It is a sturdy one, after all, it's put up with me all this time. Can't be bad. Printer is ok too. I thought last week I would have to buy a new one. Thank you Epson!
By the way, the passport of mine is still ok for our trip. Been browsing the Internet for sights of our forthcoming holiday. Gosh, in less than a month, we will be in the USA. I still can't believe it.
Wonder if I will get the call from work next week? I have decided that I am just going to work on my lod ward. I have said this before but after the lousy shift the other night, I think it's best.

Ink Cartridges etc.
The price of ink cartridges, how different they are. You can get cheap ones that seem no different to the ones made for your printer. Why? Dunno.
The ones I get are £2 each = £8 for the four I need. Jolly good they are too.
I suppose, really, you should use the printer's make. Especially if it is still under warranty. Extended warranty, is it worth it? I never get it.
I reckon if the computer or whatever, breaks down after the 12 months, it's easier to take it to someone to mend. Still bad luck though.
But sometimes, they will replace the broken computer with a new one if you do buy extended warranties. So, I just don't know.
I have been in well know stores and have been left abruptly when I refuse.
Are these people on commision? It was the same when I bought my mobile phone. I am not the only one either. heard lots of people have been treated the same.

Oh dear!
Today, in the rain, I went to see my great-niece riding on Bonnie. She did well. I took photos. Although I say so myself, they were quite good! Now I have lost them. It's my fault I know. Why do I delete them before I get them safely to CD? Why? Because I am so dense.
I put shortcuts on the desktop. WRONG. Then I sent them to CD. Of course the shortcuts didn't get to the CD. I am so annoyed with myself. I also deleted them from the camera. Will I EVER learn?
(Answers on a postcard please.)
Well, you live and learn. There will be other horse riding shows. It's still a shame though.
I lost a lot of my son's wedding photos at one time. They were safely on the CD. I can see them burnt in. But cannot recover them. Luckily, I took ordinary pictures too.
So, be warned, please don't be as silly as me. I don't think you will!

Thanks Computer!
I think I have said, in July, I am going on to broadband. Can't wait. Was a bit disappointed that I had to wait though. This was due to heavy demand.
I am one of those people who want it yesterday, no patience at all. still, as the gent in the shop said, time will fly by. So here we are, 12th May, just over a month and a half to go. Maybe more as I don't know what date in July it will be.
My son says, once I go on broadband, I will notice the difference and NEVER want to go back to dial up.
I have been on quite a few sites looking at photos and such pertaining to our holiday!
The holiday plans haven't got any further. But I want them to, impatient again. I have the urge to know it is booked and paid for. While I am waiting, it seems as though it won't happen. I suppose you mustn't rush these things though.
So thank you my Packard Bell for giving me glimpses of what I might see in real life.
I will have to buy loads of photo paper and ink cartridges. If I keep getting them now and then, before I go, I will have plenty to use to print out my photos of my trip. Might buy a new memory card too. A super-duper one that takes millions of pics.

Computer Mouse.

It's on again! Footie!
Yes, I've got the blues!!! Just watched Mike on Corrie being taken into hospital. Ok, I know it's just a programme. But I have seen the same thing happen, over and over.
Anyway, him downstairs is watching footie. Keeps him off the streets I suppose. He tells me it will be all finished in May. But didn't mention the "Friendlies." But I know, have lived through years of it. Then it will be cricket. Somehow, it always seems to rain when Yorkshire & Lancashire play. I don't suppose it does every time but according to him downstairs it does. I suppose that I only know when he complains about it.
Not to worry, I have my computer! Have downloaded a great, annoying and time wasting, Space Invader game. Pacman too but I am even more useless on that. A few other games too. I have also found a way to transfer my audio song tapes to CD. We have such a lot of tapes. So it will take a while to do them all. Might just do the ones I like the most. Then, there is a way to do our old LPs. Trouble is, as soon as I sussed it out, I gave up! Still trying my sewing. Have made a top and now on my second one. Trust me, I won't be wearing them for best! They will look better under a cardigan.
No work until Saturday, I thought it was Sunday, I must be getting old.
A photo of the old railway station at Morecambe! No trains now!
