Right, Toby Twirl, anyone remember him? If so, what was he supposed to be? Golly, I am going back some years now.
He looks a bit like a pig. Yes, maybe as the twirl could mean his tail. it's making sense now. Well, I think it is.
My friend and I were chatting about the old days. lol

I remember my mum plugging in the iron from the light bulb place. I remember grandma on Mondays, the kitchen smelt of ammonia. Made the eyes water.
I remember Rinso washing powder and Vim too. Wonder if you can buy it anywhere now?
Donkey stoning the front steps too. Now what was that all about? Why the daily routine?
I do remember it but didn't know you were thought to be a bit slovenly if it wasn't done. That bit of info, I have read in books.

Even further back, the irons would be heated on the fire. (Sorry, I do change subjects don't I?) I bet you anything I couldn't have coped with that.

Beating carpets too, using the big carpet beaters.

Hey, would love to hear any old memories. It would be great.

Now, I know George was a lady. I know she lived in Nuneaton. (I have seen her statue.) I know there is a hospital bearing her name. I believe it they are trying to shut it down! PLEASE DON'T.I know that George wrote "Mill on the Floss." I once knew her real name too.
Now I am in my dotage, I cannot remember her name.
Please could some kind person tell me it?
I have tried searching on the internet to no avail. I know some of you would find that easy, Not me. lol
Useless.
