Awful! Earthquake. Japan.

There was me earlier today just waffling on about stuff that in the great scheme of things, doesn't matter.

I go and watch the news and see the devastation happening in Japan and how it could also affect other countries too.

So I send my sympathy and empathy to anyone who may read this and has been affected.

Internet Stalker, yes me.

This is kind of an apology yet in a funny sort of way, I don't mean it.
Please let me explain.....

For ages I was trying to find my biological father. I an 99.5% I have. He is dead.
But did manage to get in touch with his family who now live in the USA. Maybe not all but at least two of them.

It now gets complicated, biological father married and had a son. He married a woman with at least two children. So they were his new family. They went by his surname. OK.

So, I got in touch with my half brother's half sister, didn't know that at the time, thought they were all this chap's natural children.
She gave me the phone number of one of her brothers, that is when I found out he was the only son of my biological father. We had a chat and all seemed well, he gave me his address and I wrote. No reply. So emailed this woman and asked if all was well and I know I upset her. Either that or she was trying, for some reason to wriggle out of this association! Why? Goodness me, we are on opposite sides of the world.

So this is when my stalking started. Not my fault she has an unusual name and it's so easy to find. I knew she wouldn't answer me so I used to use different names. But she always sussed me out in the end. Not my fault either that she has a public profile with photos. I mean, how could I resist?

I wrote once more to my half brother and posted it on the last day of February. I don't expect a reply.

Anyway, this stops now. It hasd been fun and I don't think for one minute that I will have caused any harm or worry or threat.
But if I have, sorry. Still don't like you Mrs but sorry.

Slow cooker, my new toy!

Winwindmill.JPGdmill.

On Tuesday off we went to buy me a Slow Cooker. I had given it great thought. Would it be another waste of space and money? (I was thinking of my breadmaker, a huge disappointment to me.)

On Thursday I decided that I couldn't go wrong making a stew, well, could I? Yup, I could.

I didn't cook it really well. But I have learnt by my mistake. (I hope.)
Looked on-line for recipes and today got a book from the library. (I only saw one for slow cookers.)

I must say, the recipes in this book look lovely especially the puds. I am not a natural cook, but even I could manage some of them. I will now have to find a recipe book to buy.

Himdownstairs said my stew would have been ok if the beef wasn't in it and the potatoes left out. Cheek. But will cook for a lot longer next time.

So, owners of slow cookers, any hints, easy recipes would be gratefully received. Love you all. Mwh mwh. lol.

Just thinking......gadgets, computers etc.

bay1 11.JPGWell, I was sat here playing on Facebook earlier today and started remembering our first game thing. We got it for our two boys many Christmas' ago. It played Ping Pong/table tennis. Some other games too.

I remember thinking how wonderful it was. That is when we or should I say, himdownstairs, fixed it up to the TV. We were mesmorised. lol

For someone who still doesn't understand how a phone works, (well, I do in theory,) it was amazing.
I reckon that was about 35 years ago, maybe a little bit less. Just look what there is now!

In 35 years hence, there is a great possibility I won't be around but I wonder if people will remember fondly of Windows 7? I still think of Windows '95. my first computer. Cost a small fortune and like me, had a very small memory. For a quarter or maybe less you can buy a super-duper computer/laptop/phone.

Did abay dome4 11.JPGnyone know that Morecambe had a Dome? Well, it did until this year.

Used to take granddaughter there to Pantos, just after Christmas. She is now 19 and a half. Ken Dodd, Marty Wilde, Eden Kane, and the Drifters to name a few. They all appeared at the Dome. Never again though. Gone, demolished, no more. Woe is me.

Still not smoking. Pleased about that though every now and then I wish I could have one. I daren't for three reasons.
1/ I may be sick.
2/ I may faint.
3/ I may start again oh, and
4/ I couldn't go through that quit again. 5/ I coulldn't afford it now. Couldn't before really but managed somehow. bay dome2 11.JPG

My present.

I have been an Elvis fan for a very long time. I make no apologies for it either. lol

My granddaughter bought me a floating Elvis duck for Christmas. Pop it in the water and it changes its light. Even got the sunglasses on. One cool duck or what?
I must have led a sheltered life as I have never seen one of these before. Bet I see a lot now.

Today it has been kind of dry, then seemed kind of damp and tonight, hail.

Nuffin' more to say now really. Town was quiet this afternoon for a Saturday. Think people are either, fed up of shopping, have enough to see them through until June. lol or no money left from the holidays. Hope it's the first two though.

Right chaps and lasses, one Elvis Duck for your delight!

Take care.

Belated Happy New Year!

Again, belated Happy New Year to all. May 2011 be good to all.

Ok, another year gone another year older. But I am still here. lol
I am still not smoking, it will be three and a half years at the end of March.
I only mention it as I know a lot of people may have given up for the New Year. Just to let you know it can be done however you feel at the moment! (Also I like bragging about it too.)  :<))

Once more, www.stayquit.com is a great site. And no, I don't get paid for telling you about it! lol

I am reading a book by Meg Hutchinson. I like her stories. But just found out she died in 2010.  It said on the front, "Her Last Book."
I didn't take a lot of notice really at first. Used to seeing it's the author's latest book. So sad. Lost a few people lately.

Our snow has gone but it has or maybe still is raining. Makes it a teeny bit warmer at our end of England. Spring will soon be here, time for me is going so fast I will be writing out cards for Christmas again soon. Easter eggs been seen in shops I believe and hot cross buns are all year round now!

I have bought an I-pod and a new mobile/cell phone. No money left now. But would have spent more on the cigs if I hadn't stopped.

Take care all. x

Not yet................

Nov canal 1.JPG

Part of Lancaster canal.

No, haven't received my invite to next years wedding yet.
Not to worry....... have you seen the price of toasters lately?? lol
But congrats to the happy couple.

Well, winter has begun. It's so cold and there is snow out there. I hope we don't get any. I know I am being a bit selfish but do NOT want to end up on my old ward for rehab. (Yes, I have got to that age now.)

Still not smoking, it's been just over 3 years now. Add a month and 25 days and I think it's been that long.

Not found any of my old email friends through this blog. Maybe they read more interesting things eh?
I still read a lot and I was tracing our family tree. Didn't do too badly really, for me anyway. Never found any skeletons in any closets. No rich or famous ancestors either.

I still go on the Wii keep fit at least once a day.

Ace, Marty, Eden, Jet, Blackpool.

theatre ceiling.JPG

Ace, last night himdownstairs went to Blackpool to see Marty Wilde, Eden Kane and Jet Harris.

Yes, I can hear you saying "Who?"
If you are a little older, Marty is the dad of Kim Wilde, "Kid's in America."
He sang "Donna" and "Teenager in Love."

Eden was the chap who sang and still sings, "Well I Ask You" and "Boys Cry." I am sure you will have heard them on the radio.

But Jet was one of the orginal Shadows with Cliff Richard. He went with Tony Meeham and they had a hit or ten!
Jet I am afraid to say is not a well man. But that lad can still play that guitar. Also he was so funny. I just hope things go well with him. Best wishes.

A great night, we enjoyed it. if you get the chance and you like Rock and Roll please try and see it. Especially if you are of a certain age like we are. lol Can sing along. Good fun.

Mr Banksie??? lol

graffiti nov.JPG

Well, when  I alighted from a bus today and there it was, graffiti. I have to say, it was good.
I wondered if Mr Banksy or Banksie had been to Lancaster?

I quite like graffiti as long as it isn't offensive or drawn, sprayed on someones house maybe unless they are happy with it. Or even if it is rubbish. lol I cannot draw for toffee but I liked the one I saw this morning! Good job I had my camera on me eh?

Poor day here today, not cold but wet.

Ex nurse.

It's just two years since I retired properly from working as a nurse. (I did a few bank shifts.)

It is over three years since I stopped smoking.

Well, it is so wet out there and windy too. I didn't think we had a great summer in this little corner of the England. Not cold but not a lot of hot, sunny days.

Went out for a meal on Sunday night, enjoyed it too and made me realise that we don't do it often enough.
Not long ago attended my nephew's engagement party.
It was good but I am turning into my dad, didn't know many of the songs and couldn't hear myself think. Sure sign of old age eh?

Our elder son coming for a visit on Thursday. On the 8th or 9th Nov, off to Blackpool to see Marty Wilde, Eden Kane and others. Seen them before and they were good.
You young 'uns may not remember them.

Hope all of you ok out there. Take care. x

Hello again.

canal view.JPG

Been quite busy doing family tree things. It runs out at the end of this month and I will have to give my notice in. lol Either that or pay for another year.

Hope all is well out there in the big old world. It's getting colder now and on Wednesday there was frost. Ahh well, soon be summer.

Just thought I would pop on and stick a photo I took on Thursday on my blog.
It is a photo of Lancaster Canal, just behind is an old part of the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
Further along is a pub aptly named The Water Witch.

Take care and be good.
