Phone Advice, good idea.

This is from an email I received from the USA. Looks a good idea to me, saves ringing the TV man, the local store etc! lol

Apparently this is a standard procedure all paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across your cell phone.

ICE - "In Case of Emergency"
We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell(mobile) phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as 'ICE.'

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!
Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!

Please forward this. It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

Hello.

Hello, you all missed me??

No? Ok.

It's summer now and very warm indeed. Just popped in for a little chat. About what? Nothing much. Sorry.5 view.JPG

I am still not smoking, a few more days and I will be 21 months without a ciggie.
Who is a clever girl then?
I must admit that now and then I still fancy a cig. The difference is and will always be, (I hope,) that I just fancy one but don't need one. Does that make sense??

Today I spent time at son and daughter-law's house. They were at work. I said I would wait for a delivery for them. And I did. But one of the items was damaged so off I go on Thursday to await for the replacement.

Still no plans for a holiday. Was supposed to go to Banff the year after our San Francisco trip. Never got there though and it's ages ago, or seems ages ago since June 2006.

Our granddaughter will very soon be eighteen. I just can't believe it really. No sign of any other grandchildren. Boo hoo.

Have joined a geneology site, very interesting but also frustrating. I am not very good with these things so maybe I should be getting more out of it than I have. I find people very helpful on the site though. I don't think I would have done without them, so thank you.

A laff. Swine 'Flu.

Yes, I live in Lancaster! You have to look on the bright side don't you?

An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale hit Lancaster in the early hours, its epicentre was in Ulverston. Victims were seen wandering around aimlessly, muttering "Fuuuckinell".
The tremor decimated the area causing approximately £30 worth of damage. Several priceless collections of mementos from Majorca and the Costa del Sol were damaged beyond repair.  Many plant pots were reported broken.

Students in InfoLab21 reported that the earth moved for them.

Three areas of historic burnt out cars were disturbed. Many locals were woken well before their giros arrived.

The Bay FM reported that hundreds of residents were confused and bewildered and were still trying to come to terms with the fact that something interesting had happened in Lancaster. One resident - Tracy Sharon Smith, a 15-year-old mother of 5 said, "It was such a shock, my little Chardonnay-Mercedes come running into my bedroom crying. My youngest two, Tyler-Morgan and Victoria-Storm slept through it all. I was still shaking when I was skinning up and watching Jeremy Kyle the next morning."

Apparently looting, muggings and car crime were unaffected and carried on as normal. The British Red Cross has so far managed to ship 4,000 crates of Sunny Delight to the area to help the stricken locals.

Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble and have found large quantities of personal belongings, including benefit books, jewellery from Elizabeth Duke at Argos and Bone China from Poundland.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

This appeal is to raise money for food and clothing parcels for those unfortunate enough to be caught up in this disaster.

Clothing is most sought after - items most needed include:

 Nike or Burberry baseball caps

Kappa tracksuit tops (his and hers)

Shell suits (female)

White sport socks

Rockport boots and any other items usually sold in Primark.

Food parcels may be harder to come by, but are needed all the same.

Required foodstuffs include:

Microwave meals, Tins of baked beans, Ice cream, Cans of Colt 45 or Special Brew.

22p buys a biro for filling in the compensation forms..

£2 buys chips, crisps and blue fizzy drinks for a family of 9.

£5 buys B&H cigarettes and a lighter to calm the nerves of those affected.

***Breaking news***

Rescue workers found a girl in the rubble smothered in raspberry alco-pop.

'Where are you bleeding from?' they asked, "London" said the girl, "wossit gotta do wiv you?"

Please don't forward this to anyone living in Lancaster - oh, sod it... they won't be able to read it anyway

Earthquake. Small. Lancaster.

PARK HOTEL>>>MORECAMBE>>>LANCS.>>>>>>>april28th2009 039.jpg

On Tuesday, well I think it was, about 11:20am we had a little earthquake. It was about 3.7 on the Richter scale.
To us it seemed that there had been a collision with a lorry. I didn't see anything move but himdownstairs did and so did my niece in Morecambe.
I know of 2 others which passed me by in years gone by and only knew of them as people asked me if the earth had moved for me!!
Anyway since then the weather has been quite cool. I thought it was getting warmer but I was wrong.

May 1st. Time is flying past for me now.
Son, wife and son have moved into their new home. Bless them, I hope they settle in well. Spent their first night in it last night.

There are jokes going around about the Swine 'Flu already. First symptoms, you come out in a rasher and feel pig sick. That is the first joke, there will be more!

Son just rung from new home... settled in and they have a long weekend to find stuff they have packed. His Missus on call and hopefully might not be too busy.

All the best peeps. x

Twitter? Facebook?

Clock Tower..jpg

Hope you are having a good Easter. If not celebrating it, a good break off work.

I joined Facebook a while ago, then someone told me about Twitter. I am 65 and not the brightest firework in the box so find it hard going.
Facebook I suppose is my fave, due to being on it longer and I really love my little pet. But must try more on the Twitter site. Won't get anywhere will I if I don't try?

Weather sunny today, will it last I ask myself? Usually we get a bit of rain before bedtime. lol

No holiday planned as yet. Quite sad really but you never know. Early days yet.
Still not smoking. Over 18 months now.

Elder son is 42 today. I hope he has a great day, Happy Birthday I..................

Out shopping later. Then I will go back to the geneology site I have joined for six months. Good fun and very frustrating. Himdownstair's ancestors proving a problem.
I still cannot find my cousins, David and Peter. Where are they??? Is David still in Canada with his wife, Nicola??? Peter will have left the army now, he will be 65 at the end of the year.
Emails friends are still missing. Woe is me indeed.

Take care please and be good. X

Still not smoking.

2008_0312feb140085.JPG

2007_08010002.JPG

Tomorrow night, maybe about 11.45 pm I will have not smoked for 17 months. Nearly a year and a half.
Ok, I am getting to be a bore now. Always was really. But if you met me you wouldn't know I had given up the cigs unless you had asked me or it came up in conversation. I am not a born again non smoker. lol
However, I do think it has been one of my better ideas. I quit late in life and now wish I had done it earlier. But no use in looking back is there? I didn't do it for the cost of cigs although if I went back to the amount I used to smoke I don't think I could afford it. Strange how I managed before.

It's the last day of February tomorrow and my last day of being 64.
The daffs have now got buds on them. I am sure that they were actually out this time last year. Yes, this pic was taken on the 3rd March 2008.

The other pic is a chap in Blackpool summer 2007.

Take care, have a good weekend.
Lots of luv from me. X X X X

No cigs.

stream (2) 9 (2).jpg

Hello, I haven't been on here for ages.
It's over 16 months now since I last had a cig. Not even had a drag.
Yes, I still act like a Bisto Kid when walking past a fresh lit cig. Strange though, although in a funny way I would still lke a cig but I know I won't, not now.
Oh, at least I hope I won't anyway. It would be a very silly thing to do.
So, if you made stopping smoking or I suppose any other New Year's Resolution, you are doing so well if you have kept it going.

I have mentioned in my other Blog and maybe this one that I have now retired from work. I do miss it and especially my old work mates. But now I don't miss the phone calls asking me if I could go into work. The phone can ring now without me muttering under my breath and hoping it's not work calling. lol

But all the things I was going to do when I didn't work, well, I still haven't done them. I keep saying that I will, after Christmas, when the lighter nights are here, warmer weather and so on and so on.

I think I have rabbited on about my half brother before now. I will have told you about his half sister, (maternal) not wanting me to phone or write to her.
Well, the good news is, I don't want to get in touch any more. Still a bit of me wishes that I could get to talk to half brother over in the USA. But have found out some "things." These "things" have got my imagination going so would now rather keep out of it. Might have been a close call. But maybe I have got it all wrong. If so, apologies.

The daffodils are poking through the grass, just the leaves. Snowdrops been spotted too.

I hope you are all keeping well my chucks. X X X X

Oh dear me.

one flew over.jpg

This is for yesterday. 11/11/2008.

Well, here we are in November. Not made my Christmas cake yet! There is still time. Last year I used that "rolling out icing sugar." Is it called Icing Fondant? Anyway it was much better than the rock hard, break a tooth royal icing I made. Will do the same this year.

Waiting for men to mend our roof. Been waiting for ages, I said in my other Blog, the scaffolders put the scaffold up yesterday, him next door not happy, it's blococking his Skye reception. A row in the making?
We did ask his permission to get roof mended as we thought they would have to go in his garden. He said it was ok but in the end they had no need to go into his garden. Please let the weather be good and please let them mend our roof pronto!

I have been off the cigs for over 13 months. Yes, me. lol. Bought a laptop. I like it too. Vaio?
Still use this one though. I have saved money with not smoking so what the heck?

Work, not going again, ok, I might. But 21st Dec I have to re register so I can nurse another year. So that is that.

Not had much of a summer have we? Two years it's not been good. Maybe next year eh? Fingers crossed.

Sister and I haven't got to Canada yet, will we ever???

Take care out there, please keep safe and warm.

No cigs for...and work, oh, and Morecambe.

Just to keep whoever may be interested up to date. lol
Tomorrow, 27th July 2008, I will not have had a cig for 10 months. Yes, ten months, me..............

I have bought a mp3 player to treat myself. It's not my first but it does take more mp3s than my other two. I am impressed with it already. 4Gb. I know I could have got more Gbs but do I know that many songs??? Also it was in a sale and had £15 off. Double whammy.

Yesterday I went to work. Ahhhh. It was work too. I am working next Saturday and I think after that I will give up. Properly retire. I know I keep saying it but one day I will have to so it might as well be soon.
Not only was it hard work but I was told to P*** off by one lady. I know it wasn't personal, (I think it wasn't anyway.)

Morecambe is having a 50's weekend. Today we saw old cars, Teddy boys and girls and some super young dancers. They were just outside the old railway station! Where is my camera when I need it???
I think there is a kind of show at the Carleton tonight. Lovely weather for it too.

Why oh why??? lol

Showing you a pic of the car park at high tide. Well, after a rainfall anyway.

Today I had a call from the hospital, would or could I work tomorrow? Oh and Saturday too! I said I would go tomorrow but not Saturday.
I think this will be my last shift. Mind you, I keep saying that.
I am like everyone getting older and the longer I am away from the hospital the harder it is to get back into the routine.
All the patients will be unknown to me, I find it sad that I can't get a proper rapport going.
Ahhh well.
Please wish me well. lol

No Smoking.......

Seven months without a cig.
It's Sunday, it's damp and the sky is grey. April is nearly over.

My niece went with her friend to London last week. Including a pic she took.

Have a good week. X
